Anthony Aaron Zych (; born August 7, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. ==Career== From Monee, Illinois, Zych traveled each way to attend St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, Illinois, to play for their baseball team. He played second base for their baseball team, and also occasionally served as their closer, which he enjoyed.〔 After graduating from high school, the Chicago Cubs selected Zych in the 46th round of the 2008 MLB Draft, but he opted not to sign. Zych enrolled at the University of Louisville, where he played college baseball for the Louisville Cardinals. Competing in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2010, Zych was named the most outstanding relief pitcher and prospect. He served as the closer for Louisville. The Cubs selected Zych in the fourth round of the 2011 MLB Draft, and he signed. He began the 2012 season with the Daytona Cubs of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, and was promoted to the Tennessee Smokies of the Class AA Southern League.〔 After the 2012 season, the Cubs assigned Zych to the Arizona Fall League.〔 The Cubs sold Zych to the Seattle Mariners on April 1. He pitched for the Jackson Generals of the Southern League and the Tacoma Rainiers of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.
